有人讨论是否要专注认字。 吾之愚见，一味地专注于认字，把语文课捣鼓成识字课的话，结果就会像教琴的老师常说的那样，I hear all the notes, but I hear no music (我只听见音符，听不到音乐)，为什么呢？因为没有音乐的要素比如旋律(melody)、节奏(rhythm)在其中。 又有人问，如果没有音符，怎样有音乐呢？ 问题的本质不是把notes与music分离，而是在notes的基础上还要兼顾其它的要素，比如melody、rhythm等，才能真正产生music。 词汇是实现交流必不可少的元素，但并非交流本身，因为有效、正确的交流还要"Knowing how, when, and why to say what to who".
