中世纪欧洲大学的主要科目是The Seven Liberal Arts (自由七艺)，由Trivium (三艺)和Quadrivium (四术)*组成。三艺是grammar (文法)、logic (逻辑)和rhetoric (修辞)，是学习其它科目，并将它们有效联系，生动表达的基础。What the heck is grammar, logic, rhetoric? (以下来自wiki) Grammar (art of letters) teaches the mechanics of language to the student. This is the step where the student “comes to terms”, defining the objects and information perceived by the five senses. (曾经，在英国等国家，小学就叫grammar school。我们有时候，把事情描述、讲解不清楚，要反思文法。) Logic (the “word” or “what is spoken”) is the “mechanics” of thought and of analysis, the process of identifying fallacious arguments and statements (去伪存真) and so systematically removing contradictions (自圆其说), thereby producing factual knowledge that can be trusted. Rhetoric (public speaker) is the application of language in order to instruct and to persuade the listener and the reader. It is the knowledge (grammar) now understood (logic) and being transmitted outwards as wisdom (rhetoric). Grammar is the art of inventing symbols and combining them to express thought (准确); logic is the art of thinking (条理); and rhetoric is the art of communicating thought from one mind to another, the adaptation of language to circumstance (优雅). 我们语文教材里的白话文，因为在三艺上乏善可陈，导致受此教育的莘莘学子，在叙事、推理、表述上不知所云、指莹为梅、粗鲁放肆。举例如下： 对自己要表达的意思和要说的话，如同是用鸟枪来射击那样，一片混乱，击不中要害；长年累月讲不出任何一件可以被认为有理性思想的事情，无数人都因为被反复灌输而变得愚蠢。 事实(fact)和观点(opinion)不分：把论点当论据；混淆因果，于是笃信：是公鸡把太阳给叫出来了。 有群众没文化的语言：干货满满、真抓实干、厉害了、打造一个、摩擦性失业… *四术包括 算术 (arithmetic ── pure number) 几何 (geometry ── number in space) 音乐 (music ── number in time) 天文 (astronomy ── number in space and time) © 2012-2023 by Yuming Si.
